About Northern Virginia Diving League

The NVSL-Dive program sponsors developmental diving in and among pools in Northern Virginia with the goal of developing in children a love for the sport, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship. The league ranges from true beginners to state and national-level champions with a focus on learning diving fundamentals and growth.

The league consists of nearly 50 individual pool dive programs but welcomes members of NVSL pools without their own dive team.

The season includes dual meets, divisional and league championships, and three league-wide events (3-meter, synchronized diving, and a beginner meet).

Congratulations to our 2025 Scholarship Winners!

Each year the NVSL awards scholarships to graduating high school swimmers/divers to be used at the school of their choice to help defray a portion of their continuing education expenses. The league considers team commitment and leadership, school and community involvement, and a submitted essay as criteria for selection. 

About the NVSL Scholarships:
  • Presidents' Scholarship - Created in honor of the volunteers who served as league presidents of NVSL.
  • Community Service Scholarship - Created in honor of George MacDuff and daughter Melinda. George served as the league records chairperson for many years.
  • Spirit Scholarship - Created in honor of Olivia Aull to recognize spirited swimmers and divers from within the NVSL family.
  • Sportsmanship Scholarship - Created in honor of Joan Olson, long-time director of the NVSL and chairperson of the Seeding Committee, who was a passionate advocate for sportsmanship.
  • Excellence in Technique Scholarship - Created in honor of Lou Sharp, founder of the Competition Swim Clinic, who guided generations of NVSL swimmers in stroke technique and love for swimming

Congratulations to all of our All America Divers!

The entire NVSL Dive community would like to congratulate the following NVSL divers on their selection as High School All America Divers for 2024-2025.  In particular, we would like to extend a special congratulations to Nathaniel Grannis (2025 from Woodson HS and Wakefield Chapel) for being selected as the High School All America Dive Champion!  He is the third diver from this area to earn that accolade (Grayson Campbell in 2014 and 2016 from Madison HS and Vienna Woods, and Connor Casey in 2017 from Woodson HS and Truro Homes Association were the other two).  You can find the entire list here at All America Diving and see Nathaniel's 11-dive video.
